The PSAC West puts a three-headed monster on display for the last decade

The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Division has made its presence known throughout Division II football for many years.

A consistent source of national championship hopeful teams, teams within the PSAC West have racked up several wins for quite some time now. With powerhouses like Slippery Rock, Indiana (Pa.), and California (Pa.) making up the most talented trio of teams within a division, it is difficult to remain a contender in this division.

So, which team has been the best in the last decade? Looking at pure win totals, Cal U takes the top spot in the PSAC West, posting a 96-34 (.738) record during that span. Not far behind is the Crimson Hawks of IUP, who have totaled a 95-33 (.742) record. Slippery Rock is up next, who has amassed a 93-36 (.720) record.

The remaining ranking of total wins since 2009 are as follows below:

Mercyhurst: 65-59 (.524)

Edinboro: 60-62 (.491)

Gannon: 54-68 (.442)

Clarion: 44-77 (.363)

Seton Hill (Entered PSAC West in 2013): 15-61 (.245)

Lock Haven (left PSAC West after conclusion of 2012 season): 1-41 (.023)

Although California (Pa.) and Indiana (Pa.) rank first and second in wins respectively, win totals don't necessarily tell the entire story. Slippery Rock leads all PSAC West teams since 2009 with six PSAC West titles, followed by IUP with three, and Mercyhurst with one.

With the PSAC West churning out a three-headed monster on a yearly basis, Slippery Rock's head football coach Shawn Lutz speaks about how tough it is to remain a contender in one of the toughest divisions in college football, as well as giving a preview of Slippery Rock's Nov. 30 playoff game against Shepherd.
